‘Can we recycle it?’ Schools Art Project launched.

Communities across Cavan came together for National Spring Clean 2023 to make a difference for the environment by removing 11 tonnes of litter from various locations in the county.

National Spring Clean is operated by the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce in partnership with Local Authorities and supported by the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment and Mars Wrigley Ireland.

Throughout the month of April, the National Spring Clean encouraged communities to tackle the problem of litter in local areas.

This year almost 60 Cavan groups registered to taker part, making Spring Clean 23 one of Ireland’s largest campaigns to date.

Over 1,000 volunteers in Cavan helped remove an estimated 11 tonnes of litter in Bailieborough, Butlersbridge, Drumcrow, Virginia, Belturbet and many more.

Cavan Tidy Towns also took part in a National Spring Clean, with clean-ups of the Cootehill Road, Kilmore Road and the Green Lough Park, as well as launching the ‘Can we recycle it?’ Schools Art Project in Gaelscoil Bhréifne.
