A serious collision has occurred this morning on the Bailieborough to Virginia Road.

The traffic incident occurred on the R178, close to Bailieborough. The road is now closed and traffic is now being diverted via Mullagh. The road is expected to be closed for a number of hours.

Meanwhile the N3 has re-opened at New Inns following yesterday’s (Thursday, May 4) collision. Gardaí yesterday appealed for witnesses following a fatal road traffic accident in the Ballyjamesduff area.

The fatal accident involved a car and a lorry and occurred shortly before 5pm on the N3 at New Inns.
