'Do Not Consume' notice on Kilsherdany GWS

Alternative supply provided from a tanker at St. Brigid’s Chapel.

A 'Do Not Consume Notice' has been issued with immediate effect to protect the health of all consumers of water supplied by the Kilsherdany Group Water Supply Scheme.

The notice was issued by the Health Service Executive and Cavan County Council this afternoon.

The Kilsherdany Group Water Society Ltd, is also known as the Kill Group Water Scheme is drawn from Black Lough. The treatment works site is meanwhile located on the banks of the Lough in the townland of Drumhurt.

Both the HSE and the council warn that boiling water will not render it safe to drink.

An alternative supply is being provided from a tanker at St. Brigid’s Chapel H16 V520.

"Remember to boil this water from the tanker before use for drinking or for food preparation. Please pass this information to your neighbours and friends."
