Inaugural Tracks of Tradition to take place

Events at Belturbet Railway for three weekends in September.

A late summer festival celebrating the culture and heritage of Belturbet and its railway station will take place over three weekends next month, from September 3-17.

Supported by the Department for Arts and the Arts Council, on Sunday, September 3, the inaugural Tracks of Tradition will host 'Tales Along the Track' from 8pm, featuring the Dalriada Legends, skilled storytellers and musicians from the Antrim Coast and Glens of Antrim, and who through beautifully crafted recitation will delve deep into the rich history, mythology and folklore.

Saturday, September 9, from 8pm, welcomes John McManus' The Determinator'.

Directed by Padraic McIntyre, and starring Charlie McGuinness, it tells the tale of one young man's epic trek from Dowra, Co. Leitrim, to New York City in a last ditch attempt to win back his ex-girlfriend's heart.

Saturday, September 16, from 8pm, sees the visit of Whiskey You're the Divil, a local band requiring no introduction, but features of whole host of well known musical names with guitar maestro Darragh Slacke at its helm.

The fourth and final event on the Tracks of Tradition schedule is an event presented by Dromín Creative titled 'Songs and Poems from Around the Erne' with soprano Eileen Coyle, accompanied by musicians Martin Donohoe and Fintan McManus, and poets Heather Brett, Noel Monahan and Brendan McCann.

Tickets for each of the events, which take place at the Belturbet Heritage Railway, are available at the door and will cost €15 each.
