Host or join a coffee morning for a great cause

PROCEEDS Money raised in Cavan goes to St Christopher's Hospice

Cavan households and businesses are being asked to support a nationwide army of ‘superheroes’ aiming to raise €2million during Ireland’s biggest coffee morning.

A legion of volunteers throughout the country will be fundraising for Bewley’s Big Coffee Morning Social for Hospice - a charitable phenomenon which has raised €43.2million since 1992.

The official event day is September 21, and people across Cavan are being asked to join the cause and host a coffee morning of their own, or if they cannot host, donate.

Currently there are two Cavan events organised for St Christopher's Hospice.

Cavan Adventure Centre will host one from 10am-6pm at their premises at Inishmore, Butlersbridge, Co Cavan H12 CD43; Meanwhile Co Cavan Golf Club will host their coffee morning on the same day, from 10am-1pm.

Everyone is welcome to join either event for a wonderful cause, head along and bring a friend or two.

Hollywood star Domhnall Gleeson joined the cause, urging people across the country to support ‘extraordinary’ hospice services.

“There’s a focus on creating a connection and patients are not just a problem to be solved on the way to the next problem along the corridor. Each person’s journey is different, and each one matters to the people working there.

“I don’t know how they do it; there is an incredible giving of oneself.

“So I am asking everyone in Cavan on September 21, or whenever suits them, to organise, support or donate to a coffee morning, wherever it might be held.”

Funds raised locally stay local and go back into each hospice to innovate, build new facilities, develop new services and deliver quality improvements and extra benefits for their patients and family members.

Communities right across Cavan are urged to simply gather a group on September 21 to help raise much needed funds to support the work of St Christopher's Hospice, Cavan.

Mary Ferguson, of St Christopher’s Hospice, said of Bewley’s Big Coffee Morning Social for Hospice: “It is a chance to celebrate our many coffee morning hosts across the county, who are an incredible testament to the dedication and committed nature of Hospice supporters in local communities.

“This ongoing support is invaluable and funds vital services and quality initiatives enhancing care for patients living with a life limiting illness.”
