Leona fights back to finish tied 7th

First outing since Solheim victory

Cavan golfer Leona Maguire fought back after a difficult third day of golf at Dallas' Old American Golf Club to tie for seventh for the weekend.

In her first outing since Team Europe's incredible Solheim Cup victory the Ballyconnell native carded a final round of 68, leaving her -5 overall, tied with fellow challengers Korea's Ryu So-yeon and America's Katherine Muzi.

After bogeying her first two holes Leona must have felt that luck had deserted her.

In difficult conditions Leona bogeyed five times on Saturday, ending the day by carding a three-over-par 74 that left her in a five-way tie for 13th on -2.

But she knuckled down and turned things around starting with an impressive set of birdies on the sixth, eighth and ninth holes.

She would birdie 12 and 13 as well as the penultimate hole.

South Korea's Hyo Joo Kim, who looked unstoppable all weekend as she went in search of first win on the LPGA tour since April 2022 shot a final-round of 69 to win by four clear shots on 13-under-par overall.
