The Vista Mar pub and restaurant in Ballyconnell is on the market, to be sold by public auction next week.

‘Ready to go’ pub with €495K asking price

The bar and restaurant known as the Vista Mar in Ballyconnell is set to go under the hammer next week.

The fully licensed bar with a three-bedroom apartment will be sold by online public auction on Thursday, October 19. With a reserve price of €495,000, the Vista Mar is a most attractive prospect according, to auctioneer James Spring. “It’s a ready-to-go pub,” he said.

“It’s fully kitted out and is ready to go. The owner bought it several years ago, and fully renovated it. There isn’t a penny that needs to be spent on the place. It’s not common for a pub of this calibre to be on the market. When pubs come for sale, they are usually tired-looking, so people have to buy and invest money in them, but that isn’t the case here,” assured the auctioneer. It’s a very versatile space, says Mr Spring. The owners decided to move away from the area.

“The owners bought it at auction several years ago and completely did it up. It was open for a short time when Covid hit, then they decided to move abroad. “The whole place is absolutely pristine. It can be treated like a pub, as well as a restaurant. There’s a fully kitted-out kitchen. The dining room is fabulous and is barely four years old and overlooks the river at the back. It has a capacity of over 100 in it and is big enough to hold functions or weddings,” he described. The apartment increases the property’s attractiveness, according to Mr Spring. “The accommodation is one of the best that I’ve seen and can be treated separately from the pub, so staff could live there.” In the hands of the right person, the property could be a very attractive prospect, says the vendor.

“I would love to see someone with a mind for food take it over”, he said. “It would be good to see someone who is a good chef or can bring a chef in. There’s a gap in the market in Ballyconnell for finer dining. There are cafés and places that do pub food, but nothing like this. It’s priced keenly and so far we’ve had good interest in it.”
