Teresa drives the standards

A Cavan bus driver won a top award at Bus Éireann's regional awards.

Cavan Depot's, Teresa Hatchett, was recognised as Road Passenger Driver of the Year for the Eastern region at the Go the Extra Mile (GEM) Awards. The annual awards celebrates the achievements of Bus Éireann's employees in 2023 with a focus on excellent customer service, community impact, performance and forward-thinking.

The adjudicators gave Teresa her GEM in testament to her professionalism and dedication to excellent customer service.

Teresa’s supervisor, Jim Reilly shared that, “Teresa is a very dedicated hard worker who is committed to her job. She is a pleasure to work with.”

Teresa's management also added that they regularly receive compliments from passengers about Teresa's warm welcomes, nice goodbyes and how polite and helpful she is.

Awards were issued in a number of different categories including Apprentice of the Year, Depot of the Year, Executive of the Year as well as community awards. Having won the Bus Éireann regional award, Teresa will now go forward to the national GEM awards on December 8 in Dublin.
