CCTV being reviewed in ‘serious assault’ probe

PROGRESS Garda investigation ongoing

Gardaí are reviewing CCTV as part of their investigation into a alleged serious assault that occurred in Cavan Town late last month.

The incident occurred on October 22 in the Bullock Lane area of Cavan Town.

Gardaí refused to comment on the nature of the alleged assault, however they described it as a “serious incident”.

Following the incident the area was cordoned off with police tape for a time to allow a full investigation to take place.

A garda spokesperson told The Anglo-Celt: “An incident occurred, it is being investigated and progress is being made.”

No arrests have been made at this time.

“There’s good CCTV and it will be progressed,” the spokesperson added.

He further described it as a “standalone incident, not related to anything. There’s no need for concern, absolutely none.”

The Garda Press Office also confirmed the incident, stating: “Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault that is reported to have occurred on Sunday, October 22, in the Townparks area of Cavan Town.

“Investigations are ongoing into this matter. No further information is available at this time.”
