ALDI gets green light for new €6.5M Cootehill store

25 new jobs to be created

ALDI Ireland today confirmed it is set to open a new €6.5M store in Cootehill in 2024.

The news comes as the supermarket was granted planning permission from An Bord Pleanála for its new 1,315sqm store today. Sixty jobs will be created during the construction phase, with 25 permanent roles being created upon opening. The store will be centrally located along Station Road and Market Street.

Featuring ALDI’s award-winning Project Fresh layout, the 1,315sqm store will be powered by 100% green electricity. In addition, Cootehill shoppers will also benefit from four electric vehicle charging points at the new store along with 10 bicycle rack stands.

Commenting, Colin Breslin, ALDI Ireland Managing Director of Buying and Services said: “Today is a great day for the people of Cootehill as we have just received planning permission to build a new store there. We are particularly delighted for those people who have campaigned tirelessly and signed petitions supporting our efforts to come to the town. “Their contributions have paid off and ALDI is delighted not only to be able to offer unbeatable value and bring our amazing prices to Cootehill, but also create a host of new employment opportunities in the town.”
