Crover House Hotel is a four-star, 44-bed hotel located in the beautiful County Cavan countryside on the shores of the picturesque Lough Sheelin.
Around 150 people are employed there with ages ranging from 16 to 82 years young. Staff at the hotel strive to create a warm and welcoming environment for guests - whether that’s for diners, wedding guests, those attending functions, golfers or day trippers.
This Georgian Manor House was first constructed in 1759 by the Maxwell family, one of the largest landowners in Ireland at the time.
Today, the team at Crover pride themselves on showcasing good quality local Irish hospitality to all visitors. The stunning views of Lough Sheelin are regarded as one of the hotel’s greatest assets, second only to the team. From senior to junior staff members, they all love what they do and go above and beyond to create a warm and wonderful environment for all customers to experience.
Seamus Cunningham is the operations manager at Crover House and he is full of praise for all the staff.
“Crover has a diverse team behind it,” he says.
“We create some of the most memorable days of their lives for our customers. I believe that Crover is a true reflection of the Cavan personality. I am very proud to bring that to the people that come to us every day.”
The operations manager says the best business advice he could give is: “The words ‘no’ and ‘can’t’ do not exist. Think creatively to find a solution.”
Crover House Hotel was purchased by the O’Reilly family in 1992. The family also own restaurants and hotel bars in New York City and the Gold Coast of Long Island. The O’Reillys set about building a 28-bedroom extension to the hotel and developing a golf course. Their commitment to continued investment persists to this day.
Meanwhile, Mr Cunningham is excited about the hotel’s future.
“We have plans to extend our accommodation offerings to boost our ability to welcome more guests to our beautiful county... And, the business is growing despite the challenging times.”
