Saying ‘I do’ at Amsha Bridal

Michelle Cullivan established Amsha Bridal five years ago after spotting a gap in the market for a quality service.
Her daughter, Amy, was getting married and had an unpleasant experience sourcing her wedding dress. Taking the plunge, Michelle left Bank of Ireland after 21 years and started her own business - supplying wedding and communion dresses, catering for all shapes and sizes, from 6 to 30.
The business is named after her children Amy and Shane; while her father, a keen fisherman, also called his boat ‘Amsha’. Michelle has the brass plaque from his boat in the shop.
“What I do, I love doing,” puts Michelle simply.
“I look after ladies of all shapes and sizes. I also look after curvy communion dresses but the little girls don’t know that because I do half sizes and they are too young to be dealing with all of that,” she revealed.
Michelle describes Amsha Bridal as “small, intimate and private” where nothing is too much trouble.
“I really look after my customers up until the day of their wedding, even the morning of their wedding if they need me,” she continued.
“No one will leave my shop in something that’s not right. I’m not about selling a dress, I’m about finding the dream dress so ladies look amazing on their day. I get great reviews and last year I won Best Bijou Bridal in Ireland.
“I have never looked back; I love what I do and it has been the best five years of my life. It’s an honour to be here.”
Meanwhile, Michelle’s business advice is centred around never giving up. She says that the COVID-19 pandemic taught her a lot.
“Keep going and follow your dream,” she urged. “It’s never too late and be financially wise. My dad once told me, ‘You have to spend money to make money’.”
And, the future for Amsha Bridal appears bright. Michelle hopes to continue looking after all the amazing women getting married and little ladies getting their Holy Communion!
“I want to continue doing what I love and keep it fresh and up to date with styles,” she concluded.
