Michelle amongst artists to exhibit in Millennium Court

Irish Palette showcases graduates of the Creative Visionary Programme

A new group exhibition which includes works by one of Cavan's most exciting visual artists will launch in County Armagh this weekend. 'The Irish Palette' brings together work by artists from across Ireland opening at Millennium Court, Portadown on Saturday, January 13 from 2-3.30pm and running until - February 24.

Six of the works were created by Cavan artist Michelle Harton. Michelle has recently had a major exhibition in Seoul and has previously had work displayed START Art Fair, The Saatchi Gallery, London and just about everywhere in Ireland.

The Irish Palette are a collective of artists living and working in various parts of the island of Ireland. The collective was formed in 2021 by a group of artists who were all studying the same 12 week intensive online creative art course; the Creative Visionary Programme (CVP), run by Nicholas Wilton of Art2Life.

"The collective came together during the pandemic so that artists going through the programme could support, help and inspire each other to not only finish the programme but to continue developing a creative life and practice going forward.

"Each year graduates of CVP living in Ireland both North and South are invited to join The Irish Palette and the group now consists of over 40 artists. Members are enthusiastic in engaging with their audience to share their love of making art through workshops and artist talks. The group has regular online meetings where they discuss their progress and collective learning."

This is their first exhibition as a group and has been put together by 13 of the members. It consists of original paintings which, whilst showcasing each artist's own individual style, collectively represents the shared language and experience of being a member of The Irish Palette and their common bond for the joy of creativity through painting.

The exhibition will be opened by Creative Adviser, Artist, Curator, Arts & Human Rights Activist and Chair NI Mental Health Arts Festival Noelle McAlinden in Millenium Court, Portadown on January 13 at 2pm and everyone is welcome to attend and will be available to view until February 24. Admission is free.
