It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Ann McGovern

Mully Lower, Glangevlin, Cavan

Ann McGovern (Annie Joe) The Garage, Mully Lower, Glangevlin, Co. Cavan.

Peacefully in the loving care of Sligo Hospice and surrounded by her loving family, friends, and dogs. Pre-deceased by her daughter Angela and son Desie.

Deeply missed by her husband Joe, sons Vincent & Pat, daughters Irene & Carmel, daughter & son in law’s Cath, Katrina, Sunita & John, her sisters Helen and Betty, her grandchildren, godsons, her nieces and nephews, neighbours and friends.

House is private please. Removal on Friday 19th to St Patrick’s Church, Glangevlin for 7pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday 20th at 11.30am, with burial in adjoining cemetery afterwards. Funeral Mass can be viewed here

Katherina (Catherine) Cracknell

(née McDonnell)

Castleblayney, Monaghan

Katherina (Catherine) Cracknell, No 2 Eden Apartments, Ravenscourt drive, Vange, Basildon, Essex, UK, and formerly of Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan. peacefully with her children by her side on 23rd December 2023.

Predeceased by her parents Patrick and Kathleen, brother Gerard. Forever loved and missed by her children Ben & Nina, brother Rev. Fr Paudge McDonnell, Sisters Rosemarie Lynch & Dympna McDonnell, nephews and nieces, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

May Her Gentle Soul Rest in Eternal Peace.

Reposing at Corrigan’s Funeral Home, The Commons, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, A75 E361, on Sunday, the 21st of January, from 4pm to 6pm. Funeral Cortege leaving on Monday at 11:40am, on foot to arrive at St Mary's Church, Castleblayney, for Funeral Mass at 12 noon, followed by burial immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Francie Mc Cabe

Monaghan Town, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Francie Mc Cabe, St Joseph's House, Monaghan Town, Wednesday, 17th January, peacefully in Cavan General Hospital. Predeceased by his mother Annie in 1977 and father Pat Mc Cabe in 1988. Deeply regretted by his cousins Francis Meighan (Ardaghey), Peter & Anne marie Meighan, their children Tara, Alanna,Oran & Evan (Ashgrove Lawns), Brenda Lydon (New Jersey), Mc Cabe family (Aghabog), neighbours and many friends.

Francie will repose at Clerkins Funeral Home, Milltown (H18YF22) on Friday (19th) from 4pm with concluding prayers a 7pm. Francie's funeral procession will arrive on Saturday morning to St Patrick's Church, Tyholland for 11am funeral mass, with burial afterwards alongside his mother & father in adjoining cemetery. Betty McQuillan

(née Maguire)

Drumcondra, Dublin and formerly of Cavanagarvan, Co Monaghan

Betty died peacefully at home with her family on the 17th January 2024. Betty was pre-deceased by her husband Pearse. She will be greatly missed by her daughters Mary Lou, Regina and Laura and her son Rory, her grandchildren Bláithín, Cian, Dáithí, Áine, Diarmuid, Eoghan and Oisín, son-in-law Joe and daughter-in-law Mary. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Jimmy, Tom, and Patrick, and sisters Mary and Laura. She will be sadly missed by her relatives and friends.

May she rest in peace.

Lying in repose at The Kirwan Funeral Home, Ballygall Road West (D11 W7VX) on Friday (19th January) from 5.00pm to 7.00pm. Funeral Mass in St. Columba’s Church, Iona Road on Saturday (20th January) at 11.30am. She will be laid to rest afterwards in Glasnevin Cemetery.

Donations, in lieu of flowers and in memory of Betty, may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
