ESB estimate 9,000 Cavan customers remain without power

As of noon today, approximately 9,000 customers remained without power across Cavan following storm force winds associated with Storm Isha.

The main areas where customers remain without power include the ESB Networks crews are dealing with over 250 individual faults with the majority concentrated in the general Cavan district, which covers parts of Monaghan and North Longford. In Co Cavan, the worst impacted areas are Ballyjames duff area with approx. 1500 customers without supply, Ballyhaise 1200 customers , Belturbet 150 and Bailieborough 850.

An ESB spokesperson told the Celt: "All available ESB Networks resources, along with our partner contractors, worked into the night and mobilised again at first light this morning to safely restore power to as many customers as possible.

"Crews travelled from less impacted areas of the country to the county to assist with repair works and restoration of supply to customers early this morning.

"We have additional crews coming up from the south of the country to assist later today and into the rest of the week. Approximately 110 skilled technicians and engineers are deployed presently on fault repairs in the Cavan and Monaghan areas alone."

The ESB spokesperson further added, the Met Éireann status Yellow level wind warnings for the counties associated with Storm Jocelyn may hamper restoration efforts later today.

"This inclement weather, as well as the scale of the damage to the electricity network, means many customers will be without power for a number of days."

The said that real-time status on power restoration is being updated regularly on www.PowerCheck.ie and apologised for any inconvenience.

"We apologise for the disruption to family and commercial life this causes, and thank customers across the county, especially those who were without power overnight, for their patience as our crews work to safely restore power."
