‘Unguarded’ comes to the Ramor Theatre later this month.

Let your guard down at Ramor

'Unguarded’, written and performed by Anthony Kinahan, comes to Ramor Arts Centre, Virginia, on Thursday, February 29, at 8pm.

An emotional, warm, and often funny drama, which beautifully incorporates physicality and movement, ‘Unguarded’ has left a lasting impression on audiences across Ireland.

‘Unguarded’ relates the tale of a father who, when his world falls apart, must battle through obstacles to ensure a future for him and his son. It is brimming with love, laughter, loss, and families left behind.

This touching and often comedic, new drama, developed by exciting Louth actor and theatre-maker Anthony Kinahan, uses imaginative physicality, vocal versatility and song, to highlight the vulnerable position many LGBTQ+ and non-LGBTQ+ families find themselves in due to the lack of regulation of surrogacy in Ireland.

One audience member described the show as “a rollercoaster of an adventure with beautiful drama and story with immense impact and an everlasting cathartic effect”; while another gushed “the poetry, movement, and vocals were all beautiful and I was especially floored by how the dialogue between characters and the physical transitions were handled. Completely amazing”.

Directed by Anna Simpson (Quintessence Theatre) & developed under the Droichead Arts Centre Artist in Association in 2021, with the support of the Arts Council of Ireland, this production is produced by Droichead and An Táin Arts Centre, Dundalk. The show running time is 75 minutes.
