Cross border conference on organised and serious crime

The theme of the event is 'Current Trends and Emerging Risks’

Garda Commissioner Drew Harris and Minister for Justice Helen McEntee are in Cavan this week at the 2024 Cross Border Police Conference.

The Conference on Organised & Serious Crime opened yesterday (Tuesday), February 27 and continues today (Wednesday), February 28 with the theme of ‘Current Trends and Emerging Risks’.

Topics being explored include emerging drug trends on the island of Ireland; the increasing use of crypto-assets by Irish OCGs; the impact of transnational economic organised crime in the Irish context; threats and trends in human trafficking and immigration; and the Joint Agency Task Force.

The Conference will provide an opportunity for keynote speakers from An Garda Síochána and the Police Service of Northern Ireland as well as experts from other agencies to discuss and share activities, experience and knowledge.

Today (Wednesday), Minister McEntee and Justice Minister Naomi Long are set to address the Conference.
