It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

Aidan McCaul

Minor Row, Millstreet, Cork / Cavan

McCaul, Aidan (Minor Row, Millstreet and originally of Corrinshigo, Co. Cavan) on March 17th 2024, peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff at The Bon Secours Hospital, Cork, after an illness bravely borne. Predeceased by his beloved wife Kitty (O’Mahony), his parents, Hugh and Mary-Anne McCaul, his brothers and sisters, May, Maggie, Pat, Thomas, Nan, Tessie and Hugh. Deeply mourned by his sons and daughters, Aodán, Maura, Yvonne (O’Sullivan), Denis and Tony. Sadly missed by his loving sons and daughters, son-in-law Andrias, Tony’s partner Maria, grandchildren, Eoin, Lavinia, Caoimhe, Gráinne, Shane, Leanne, Cian and Katie, brothers-in-law, Pat and Denis O’Mahony, nephews, nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews, neighbours, relatives and many friends.

Lying in repose in Tarrant’s Funeral Home, Millstreet, on Monday (18th) from 5pm - 8pm. Reception into St. Patrick's Church, Millstreet on Tuesday (19th) for requiem mass at 1pm . John (The Boss) Carolan

Mount St. Joseph, Kingscourt, Cavan

The death has occurred of John "The Boss" Carolan, Mount St. Joseph, Kingscourt, peacefully at his home and surrounded by his family, 16th of March, 2024.

Predeceased by his parents Margaret and Tommy, and his sisters Jenny and Margaret. Deeply regretted by his wife Ann, his children Julie, James (Mairéad), Debbie (Gerry), John (Sabrina), and Matthew; his cherished grandchildren Kaylee, Courtney, Ellie, Jasmine, Kaci, Megan, Jake, and Zara. He will be sadly missed by his brothers Matt, Thomas, Mickey, and Jim, as well as his sisters Ann and Mary, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Kieran Bros. Funeral Home, Hall Street, Kingscourt, (A82 R3W2) on Monday 18th March from 4pm to 7pm. Funeral Mass in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kingscourt, on Tuesday 19th March at 10am with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Dympna Murray (née Mc Mahon)

Dooskey, Clontibret, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Dympna Murray (née Mc Mahon) Dooskey, Clontibret, Co. Monaghan, Saturday, March 16th, peacefully, at Castleross Retirement Village, surrounded by her family. Predeceased by her parents Pat and Alice, and her sister Marie.

Dympna, deeply regretted and remembered with love by her family, her husband John, daughter Eilish (O’Reilly), son Thomas, son-in-law Colm, daughter-in-law Leonie, sisters Kathleen Treanor and Alice Sherlock, her cherished grandchildren Conor, Aoibheann, Katie and Emma, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Dympna will repose at the home of her daughter Eilish and son-in-law Colm O’Reilly, Annalitten, Castleblayney (A75ER02) on Monday from 12 noon until 8pm. Removal on Tuesday afternoon at 2:15pm to arrive at St Mary’s Church, Clontibret (via her late residence in Dooskey) for Funeral Mass at 3pm, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Edna Mc Geough

Main St, Ballybay, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Edna Mc Geough, Main St., Ballybay, Co. Monaghan. Friday, March 15th peacefully. Edna, deeply regretted and remembered with love by her family, son Liam and daughter Lorraine, cherished grandsons Mark and Conor, extended family neighbours and friends.

Edna will repose at Wards Funeral Home Ballybay on Monday March 18th, from 3pm until prayers at 6pm. Removal from the funeral home on Tuesday morning (proceeding on foot) at 10:30am to arrive at St. Patrick’s Church Ballybay for funeral mass at 11am followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Jordan Clerkin Cawley

65 Mullaghmatt, Monaghan Town, Monaghan

Jordan is sadly missed by his heartbroken mammy and daddy Aideen and John, son Tristan, brothers Joseph, John Paul, Oisin, Joshua, Jamie, Eoin and Logan, sisters Wendy, Sammy, Tina and Charlie, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.

Jordan will repose at his home from 4 p.m. on Saturday (16/03/2024) until 9 a.m. on Monday (18/03/2024). House private to family after 9 a.m. Removal at 10 a.m. on Monday (18/03/2024) arriving at St. Macartan's Cathedral, Monaghan for funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial afterwards in St. Joseph's New Cemetery, Latlurcan.

Terence (Terry) Rooney

The death has occurred of Terence (Terry) Rooney, 108 Eshnadarragh Road, Drummerheave, Roslea, Co. Fermanagh BT92 7JX peacefully in the loving care of his family in Altnagelvin Hospital.

Predeceased by his wife Maureen and his parents Dan and Tessie. Dearly beloved father of Evelyn (Malachy), Carmel (Sean), Paula (Patsy), Ciaran (Caroline) and Cathal (Emma). A much loved grandfather to Donal, Niall, Eimear, Gary, Elisha, Cerian, Jenna, Charlie, Eire, Harry and Noah. A dearly loved brother of Danny, Patricia, Kathleen, Teresa and Sally.

Terry will repose at Swift & McCaffrey Funeral Home, Brookeborough Road, Lisnaskea this evening from 8pm, concluding with prayers at 9pm, with removal to his home. Terry will repose at his home Saturday (16th March) from 2pm until 10pm and again on Sunday (17th March) from 2pm until 10pm. Removal on Monday morning at 10am to arrive at St. Tierney’s Church, Roslea for funeral mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
