McKiernan’s of Corlismore back on the market

The landmark McKiernan’s house, shop and store at Corlismore in Ballinagh is back on the market this Spring.

The original house, shop and commercial buildings, on circa 2.5 acres, are for sale with O’Reilly, Taylor & Tweedy on the L2505 about 4km from Ballinagh.

The property was part of a wider auction of over a hundred acres of land last October, which saw five lots of land go under the hammer.

The remainder of the estate - which also includes another derelict house on circa 1.1 acre of land, and three separate lots of good quality land - is back on the market with the sole selling agent.

Auctioneer Martin O’Reilly is reporting “good interest” in the properties with a number of offers already on the table. He points out that new owners of the houses may qualify for various refurbishment grants such as the Croí Cónaithe scheme, subject to terms and conditions. “The main residence with seven double bedrooms, four reception rooms, and three bathrooms is a fine house with great space for a young family. The shop and commercial unit, with three roller shutter entrances, is very attractive for a variety of big industrial businesses.”

The land parcels, says Mr O’Reilly, are “good agricultural land” and would be suitable for farmers looking to increase their holdings or those looking to get into farming or hobby farming.

“They are suitable for all types of farming”, laid out in “good divisions” with “good road frontage”.

Prices are available on application.

The property is well known having been in the McKiernan family for five generations up until last year.
