Almost 6,800 premises in Co Cavan can avail of a high-speed connection.

National Broadband Ireland (NBI) has confirmed this week that over 2,900 Co Cavan properties in its Kilnaleck deployment area can avail of high-speed fibre broadband connection.

The area covers Kilnaleck, Ballyjamesduff and Crosskeys. Meanwhile, 17,000 premises across the county are included in the State’s Intervention Area, which will see NBI deliver minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second to homes, businesses, farms and schools. Co Cavan will receive a €65M investment under the National Broadband Plan.

Works have already been completed in other parts of the county and there are 6,760 premises that can now order high-speed, reliable broadband with 1,896 connections made so far.

Peter Hendrick, Chief Executive Officer, National Broadband Ireland, said: “We are delighted to announce that Cavan premises near Kilnaleck can now order high-speed broadband services through the National Broadband Ireland network. This will enable users to experience the life-changing benefits that high-speed broadband provides.

“Presently, almost 6,800 homes, businesses and farms in Co Cavan can order high-speed fibre broadband to connect to the National Broadband Network. This includes almost 3,700 premises in Cavan town and over 400 in the surrounding areas of Clones.”
