Major motorway closed after collision leaves three men seriously injured

Two men are in a critical condition and another is seriously injured after a motorway crash in Co Kilkenny.

The two-car collision happened on the M9 at around 7.35pm on Thursday.

The driver and passenger of one car, both aged in their 30s, are in a critical condition in University Hospital Waterford.

A man in his 20s, who was driving the other car, is in a serious condition.

The M9 remains closed southbound between junctions 8 Kilkenny and 9 Kilkenny south, while the scene is forensically examined.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
