Daniel visits Cavan ahead of Cathedral concert

Event takes place October 20, tickets on sale now.

World renowned singer Daniel O’Donnell visited Cavan today ahead of his planned concert at Cavan Town’s Cathedral of Saints Patrick and Felim later this year.

The event kicks off the Drumlinia Music Festival and Industry Week 2024, and already hundreds of tickets have been sold for what is expected to be a sold out show.

The October 20 concert is a fundraiser for the Cathedral Restoration Fund and Drumlinia, now landmark series of events aimed at informing and encouraging emerging musicians and talents, is the brainchild of Cavan resident and musician, Don Mescall.

Daniel, who last played the Slieve Russell in August 2023, and also has fond memories of playing annual shows at Ballinagh Community Centre in aid of Cystic Fibrosis, visited the Breffni county to meet with Don to discuss what guests can expect from the upcoming show.

Last year Drumlinia hosted renowned soprano Celine Byrne.

Only in its second year, the festival has already become the largest and only of its kind in the country.

Daniel’s tour of Ireland last year sold out at all 13 venues, and his latest album ‘How Lucky I Must Be’ continues a record for chart success that stands him as being the only artist to have a release in the UK charts every year for 36 consecutive years.

The cathedral show will be his one and only appearance in Cavan in 2024.

Tickets for Daniel O’Donnell’s concert at the Cathedral are on sale and are available from Multisound Cavan and at www.townhallcavan.com.
