Caroline Thompson, owner of the Riverside Spa, has been nominated for Excellence in Customer Service, a recognition that celebrates her passion for people, her commitment to excellence, and the outstanding team she has built over the past 16 years.
Founded in 2009 in Stradone, Riverside Spa began as a dream of a 21-year-old hairdresser who wanted to create a space that combined beauty, wellness, and genuine care. What started in a refurbished 200-year-old stone building by the river has grown into three thriving spa locations employing 26 staff, each offering advanced treatments in hair, anti-ageing, laser, and weight loss. Caroline’s sister Margaret joined the business in 2013, helping Riverside evolve into the unique, tranquil retreat it is today.
For Caroline, the secret to Riverside’s success lies in its unwavering focus on customer service. “Riverside is my greatest passion; I absolutely love what I do,” she explained. “We believe our clients are the secret to our success, and every visit should feel just as special as the last. From the moment you book, to the time you leave, every step is filled with warmth and kindness.”
The spa is renowned not only for its high-end treatments but also for its luxurious experiences. Guests can unwind in an outdoor tub with champagne, enjoy time in a silk dressing gown, and finish their visit with a professional blow-dry from Riverside’s acclaimed hair team.
“When clients are on their spa journey, we ensure they are treated like royalty,” Caroline said.
Constant innovation also plays a key role. This month, Riverside is introducing three new anti-ageing devices and a pelvic floor chair, keeping the spa at the forefront of cutting-edge technology. Continuous training ensures the team stays ahead, always offering clients the very best.
But at the heart of Riverside is its people. Caroline credits her success to her dedicated staff and to the encouragement of her late mother. She emphasises that looking after her team is just as important as looking after clients: “If I look after my staff, they will look after my clients.”
Her one-year-old daughter Eva, affectionately nicknamed the “baby boss,” has also become part of the Riverside family, bringing joy to staff and clients alike on her weekly visits.
