CAF must-sees: Double bill of new writing
Cavan Arts Festival runs May 14-17
WHAT: New writing Double Bill
WHEN: Thursday, May 14, 8pm
WHERE: Townhall Arts Centre
The Arts Festival is this year showcasing exciting new writing with a double bill of drama in the Townhall Arts Centre.
Nothing But An Old Weed is written and performed by Fiona Maria Fitzpatrick under the direction of the splendid Seamus O’Rourke. The show is billed as a “gritty yet witty solo performance, full of sharp humour, reflection and strong flowery language”.
Meanwhile, ‘A Couple of Focail’ is written by Alice Lynch and features John McKenna, Evelyn Briody, Peter Cooney, alongside the writer. This sharp funny play digs into the gap between classroom Irish and real life. Billed as “part confession, part rebellion” it chimes perfectly with this moment of renewed interest in our native teanga.
