Scotstown hosts Farney Fleadh

THE Monaghan County Fleadh week is underway in Scotstown with events celebrating “Ceol, Cultúr and Community” and continues over the weekend.

Hosted by CCÉ Éamonn Ó Muirí, Scotstown Comhaltas, the week-long event began with storytelling in Cornagilta NS on Monday and Oíche Ghaelach with Scealta agus Amhrain – stories and song - at the Scostown Complex on Tuesday.

McCague’s Bar will host a music seisiún today (Wednesday), and again on Sunday, when there will be a youth session at the village pub.

The main competitions are on Saturday, May 30, in Urbleshanny NS, starting 10am.

On the final day of the County Fleadh there will be Aifreann Gaeilge (Irish mass) at 11:30am followed by a recital by the Aughnamullen Pipe Band at 2pm.

County Fleadh week is hosted by CCÉ Éamonn Ó Muirí, Scotstown Comhaltas which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.

The week of music and culture will end with the Youth Session in McCague’s, which, will run from 4-6pm.
