Tender for St Michael’s Hall revamp progressing
The redevelopment of St Michael’s Hall in Cootehill has reached another significant milestone, with the project’s tender process continuing to advance.
The ambitious €6.8M scheme will see the refurbishment and extension of the iconic Chapel Lane hall, a protected structure, and its surrounding site to create a modern, multifunctional community hub for generations to come.
Earlier this year permission was granted for modifications to the original plans, to include internal layout changes to the planned two-storey extension, renovations and alterations to the existing hall stage and balcony, as well as revisions to the façade design and materials of the new extension.
Once completed, the enhanced facility will provide a wide range of amenities, including improved sports provision, flexible event spaces, meeting rooms, and a significantly upgraded arts and theatre venue.
The second stage of the tender process is underway, with submissions from shortlisted contractors due by mid-June.
“Subject to progress” through the procurement process, advance works are expected to commence in the “coming weeks”, according to a spokesperson for Cavan County Council.
