Over €300k in funding for community groups in Cavan and Monaghan

A total of €315,490 was allocated to community organisations across Cavan and Monaghan today under the Local Enhancement Programme 2026.

Groups in County Cavan are to receive over €164,000, and over €151,000 in County Monaghan.

Successful groups in Cavan include Bailieborough Development Association who were awarded €5,000, Butlersbridge Community Hall Limited (€4,000), Drumgoon Community Centre Co-Op Society Limited (€5,000) and Kingscourt Community Centre Group (€5,000).

In Monaghan, Cloughvalley Local Development Group received a sum of €6,000, while others including Teach na nDaoine Family Resource Centre (€2,998.64), Hub 21, formerly The Down Syndrome Centre North East (€2,000.00) and Crescent Hill Residents Association (€4,500).

Welcoming the allocation of funding, Minister Niamh Smyth stated: "Our community and voluntary organisations are at the heart of local life. Whether they are supporting young people, promoting sport, maintaining community facilities, organising local events or providing services for older people, they make an enormous contribution to our towns and villages every day."

Meanwhile, Deputy Brendan Smith said: "I hope this funding will go a long way to support the fantastic work that it being done throughout our communities. The range of groups involved illustrates the vibrancy of the community sector and I commend everyone involved, particularly volunteers and community workers."
