Motorcyclist killed in Cootehill road accident

A motorcyclist in his 70s has lost his life following a single-vehicle accident at Drumsillagh, Tullyvin, yesterday morning (Sunday), July 5.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the collision that occurred at approximately 10:50am.

The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 70s, was airlifted to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where he was pronounced deceased late yesterday evening.

The road was closed for a time to allow examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators complete their work. It has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 10am and 11am yesterday morning are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
