History made as Cuchulainns snatch victory

CLG Cuchulainn 2-15

Gowna 3-11

Cuchulainns claimed the Romar Energy ACFL Division 1 Cup title in a memorable five-goal thriller last night.

The Mullagh based club edged out Gowna at the death, on a scoreline of 2-15 to 3-11 at Kingspan Breffni.

It is the first time in the club's history they have been crowned Division 1 champions.

An early goal from Evan Doughty set the tone for Cuchulainns, but the game ebbed and flowed throughout.

Their second goal came late in the day, with Bryan Magee finding the net only to level the score at 2-9 to 3-12 with a handful of minutes to play.

Still, Gowna refused to go away, and re-gathered the lead in injury time with points from Daire Madden and Adam O’Reilly.

Cuchlainns left it late with scores from the two Magees, Bryan and Niall, to snatch victory in the dying moments.
