Everyone urged to drop in to Smithboro village consultation tomorrow

Council planners and consultants will be in the Presbyterian Hall tomorrow (Tuesday) to hear your views and answer questions

THE first consultation meeting for the Smithboro Village Development Plan programme takes place in the town tomorrow (Tuesday).

Local councillor Sinéad Flynn (SF) is urging everyone in the area to drop in to the Presbyterian Hall between 2 and 7pm to have your say.

Smithboro as the first village in the Ballybay-Clones Municipal District to progress under Monaghan County Council’s Tier 4 Village Development Plan programme.

The programme aims to deliver a long-term development plan for the village and will look into the needs of local people when it comes to housing, infrastructure, public spaces, recreational amenities, accessibility and more.

Local people can meet with council planners and consultants during the drop-in service tomorrow.

“This is an opportunity for the residents of Smithboro, its community groups and businesses to share their views and ideas on the future of their village or share any concerns they may have and have their questions answered,” Cllr Flynn told the Celt.

Smithboro is the first village in the Ballybay-Clones MD to progress under Monaghan County Council’s Tier 4 Village Development Plan programme.

Welcoming Smithboro's selction for development and tomorrow’s consultation as a “significant milestone" for the village, Cllr Flynn said the aim is to “push Smithboro to be an even better place to love, work and raise a family.”
