Truagh fight back in Castleblayney draw

There was late drama in St. Mellan's Park, Truagh on Saturday afternoon, as the home side came from six points behind with 11 minutes remaining to share the spoils with Castleblayney on their return to the Senior Football Championship.

The Faughs were the much better team for 50 minutes, but lacked a cutting edge up front, failing to score after the 49th minute.

Truagh were missing both Gary Mohan and Louis Kelly were spurred on by the fantastic Sean O'Connell, who kicked 1-4.

Right from the off, it was clear that Blayney had a point to prove having not featured in the SFC for several years.

Paul O'Connor's side scored with their first six shots, with Max McGinnity and Tom Carey particularly influential.

It was 15 minutes in before Truagh finally opened their account, followed quickly by a brace of scores from the impressive O'Connell.

Blayney were still in control of the game and dominated in midfield through Canice Murphy and Robbie Hanratty.
