Carrick make statement with win against Latton

Carrickmacross are up and running in the Senior Football Championship, after a three-goal blitz of Latton yesterday (Saturday).

Carrick led by the bare minimum at the end of an evenly contested first-half, with a late score from Cian Conlon sending them in a point to the good.

A brace from youngster Dualta Honney, sandwiched by a goal from Niall Loughman put the Emmets out of reach of Latton, who remain winless in the SFC after two games.

Carrick sit third in Group 1, level on points with Scotstown - who have played one game less.

Inniskeen sit top of the pile in that group, with two wins from two, having comfortably beaten Corduff yesterday, 2-23 to 1-8.

The Group 2 games in the Monaghan SFC will be played this afternoon, with Castleblayney hosting Magheracloone at 2pm, and Cremartin facing Truagh at 5pm.
