Passing of veteran Monaghan councillor Seamus Coyle
It is with deepest regret that The Anglo-Celt has learned of the death of veteran Fianna Fáil public representative Seamus Coyle.
A well-known and respected figure in local politics, Mr Coyle represented his native Latton and the wider Monaghan area for more than two decades of public service.
First elected to Monaghan County Council in 2004, he became a familiar and influential voice in local government, earning a reputation as a hardworking councillor and committed advocate for his constituents.
At the time of his passing, Mr Coyle was serving as Cathaoirleach of Ballybay-Clones Municipal District.
Tributes are expected from across the political spectrum as news of his death becomes known, reflecting the esteem in which he was held by colleagues, constituents and community organisations throughout Co Monaghan.
Further details will follow.
The Anglo-Celt extends its sympathies to the Coyle family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.
