Hamill returns as Emyvale win on the road

Goals proved decisive in Doohamlet on Saturday as Emyvale’s four green flags saw them get their first win of the IFC.

The return of Michael Hamill for his first taste of competitive football since he suffered a serious knee injury in the closing stages of Monaghan’s 2025 NFL win over Westmeath was a major boost for Emyvale as they pulled away during the last ten minutes of a wide-open encounter which could have produced several more goals for both sides.

Ending his 18-month wait with a cameo off the bench, Hamill wasted no time in getting into the thick of the action, scoring a late goal and going close to another.

Doohamlet’s prowess from two-pointers, including two each by Barry McBennett and Barry McGinn, had left them within a kick of the ball of the long-time leaders heading into the last ten minutes, but Emyvale hit the net through Niall McKenna and Hamill to put the result beyond doubt.
