Late goals the difference as Carrick edge thriller

Carrick 3-14 Corduff 1-17

By Maitiú Monaghan at Emmet Park, Carrickmacross.

Two-late goals from Cian Conlon ended up being the difference between the teams, as Carrickmacross claimed local bragging rights against Corduff yesterday (Sunday) evening.

The hosts were the better team throughout the first-half, leading by four points 0-9 to 0-5 at half-time.

Matthew Carolan's goal in the 40th minute had the Emmets leading by six-points, but Corduff raised the tempo, creating a frantic finish.

Spurred on by Diamuid Marron's long-range kicking and a clutch goal by Keith McEnaney, Corduff took the lead with nine-minutes to play, 1-10 to 1-11.

However, Carrick would not be stopped, with late goals from Conlon getting them over the line.
