Sheer delight for Lavey’s Cathal Smith and Jay Graham as they hoist the U-18 division 2 cup

Lavey win thrilling decider

Lavey 2-15 Cavan Gaels 1-15

Last year’s beaten finalists Lavey clinched the Under 18 Division Two Football Championship title after a final for the ages in front of a large attendance at headquarters last Sunday.

Lavey’s young bloods etched their efforts into the annals of their club by out-scoring their gallant opponents by four points to one in added-on time.

Lavey’s speed-off-the-mark up front was one of their stand-out traits but it was an old-fashioned long ball in the 6th minute which created the first goal chance of the game but after Gaels’ ‘keeper Rapael Enoyoza saw the ball knocked out of his hands, Jack Reilly sliced his close-range shot wide off the goal.

Lavey led by the odd point in five when the Gaels engineered the second goal chance of the game but Lukas Hanly saw his shot from an acute angle saved by Kieran Rudden who spread eagled himself splendidly in the 12th minute.
