Over 70 PLC courses at Cavan Institute
Cavan Institute continues to be one of the leading providers of Further Education and Training in the region with an Open Day planned for prospective students tomorrow (Friday).
They offer students an exciting range of over 70 Post-Leaving Cert (PLC) courses, along with apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities.
All courses are delivered under the umbrella of Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB), which is renowned for providing accessible, high-quality education and training options.
Most courses are one or two years in duration and lead to recognised qualifications on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) at Levels 5 and 6. These awards open doors to employment in a wide variety of industries, while also serving as an alternative route into higher education.
Courses Designed for Your Success
Cavan Institute’s wide range of programmes reflects the diverse interests and career goals of its students. Pre-university courses are available in areas such as teaching, law, accounting, science, quantity surveying, and construction.
Popular QQI-accredited programmes include nursing, social care, healthcare, childcare, computing, tourism, sport, music, hairdressing, engineering, design, digital media and business.
The Institute also continues to build on specialist strengths in health care, science, hospitality, beauty and engineering.
The option of doing a Post Leaving Cert (PLC) is favoured by a substantial number of Leaving Cert students who may wish to do a taster course closer to home before embarking on an expensive degree programme. PLC courses are also popular with people returning to education.
“Choosing a PLC course at Cavan Institute is not only a smart academic step, but also a cost-effective one,” Cavan Institute Director Dr Niall McVeigh told the Celt.
Fees at Cavan Institute are only €250 for all courses, which includes kits, uniforms, exam fees, equipment, software licenses and much more.
“This represents a substantial reduction compared to university fees, which can exceed €3,000,” Mr McVeigh explained.
There are two new national tertiary office programmes including the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Social Care Practice in conjunction with ATU, Sligo and the BSc (Hons) in Intellectual Disability Nursing in conjunction with DKIT.
“Students will now be able to study Year 1 of both of these programmes locally in Cavan Institute and progress to the selected institution for the remainder of the programme,” he explained.
Proven Pathways to Higher Education
Each year, many Cavan Institute graduates progress to university degree programmes in Ireland and abroad, securing places in a wide variety of Level 8-degree programmes including PE teaching, multimedia, science, nursing, business studies, engineering, art and sport.
Others have chosen to pursue degrees in the UK, in areas such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and PE teaching.
