Contractor sought for Carrick CCTV system
Tenders are being sought for the supply and installation of a new CCTV scheme in Carrickmacross town centre.
Monaghan County Council is seeking a security company licensed by the Private Security Authority (PSA) to install the IP CCTV and wireless transmission system comprising 18 cameras across 15 different locations.
Cameras will include multi-sensor, bullet and dome types, with most connected wirelessly to a CCTV server at the Market House, with tenders due by 4pm on September 7.
The procurement notice was published earlier this month and, under the plans, cameras will be installed on a combination of new camera poles, existing public lighting poles and buildings.
Camera 18 will be hard-wired, while the remaining cameras will use a wireless transmission network to communicate with the Market House server.
The successful contractor will also be responsible for supplying and installing interface boxes, data cabling, and terminating all data cabling.
The installation of new camera poles, power supplies and associated civil works will be carried out separately by other contractors.
Civil and electrical contractors will liaise with the CCTV contractor during the installation, and Monaghan County Council has said it reserves the right to proceed with some or all of the proposed CCTV locations.
The contract has an estimated duration of three months and will be awarded using the Most Economically Advantageous Tender (MEAT) evaluation mechanism.
Plans
The tender follows a public consultation by Monaghan County Council on introducing CCTV schemes in locations across the county.
In June, the council invited the public's views, saying the schemes were intended to help deter, prevent, detect and prosecute illegal dumping.
Proposals for CCTV in Carrickmacross pre-date the latest county-wide initiative.
As far back as 2022, the council proposed installing CCTV cameras on Main Street and its environs, Cloughvalley Play Park and St Macartan Terrace in Carrickmacross.
The newly published procurement notice represents a more detailed plan for a town-centre system.
