Kingscourt teenager Josh Harpur completes move to Serie A club Como

Kingscourt teenager Josh Harpur has completed his move from Bohemians to Serie A side Como.

The Cavan striker, who turned 17 in August, has joined the Italian club for an undisclosed fee and will initially link up with Como’s Under-20 squad.

Harpur began his football career with Kingscourt Harps and represented the CMUL academy before moving on. Interestingly, he started out as a goalkeeper before switching to centre-forward at the age of 11.

After brief spells with the Shelbourne and Drogheda United academies, Harpur joined Bohemians in 2024.

His progress at Dalymount Park was rapid. He made his first-team debut in the FAI Cup against Killester-Donnycarney in July 2025 at just 15 years of age, before making his League of Ireland debut against Derry City.

He signed his first professional contract with Bohemians in December 2025 and went on to attract attention from Como with his performances and potential.

The Republic of Ireland Under-17 international has seven caps for his country, scoring three goals.

Former Bohemians manager Alan Reynolds, who handed Harpur his senior debut, believes the youngster has a big future ahead of him.

“Josh is a really exciting young striker,” Reynolds said. “He has a brilliant attitude, and I’m confident he will go on to have a really good career.”

Como’s Head of Development Osian Roberts also praised Harpur’s qualities, highlighting his pace, physical strength, work rate and attacking threat.

Harpur thanked everyone at Bohemians for helping him develop into a professional footballer. Harpur said: “I’m really happy to be here and to start this new experience. I’m ready to do my part for the coach and the team so I can grow as a player, and I can’t wait to get started.”

The move marks a significant step for the Kingscourt youngster, who now begins the next stage of his career in Italian football with Como.
