Latton win first Monaghan JHC Crown

Latton won their first Monaghan Junior Hurling Championship title with a grandstand finish to pip Clontibret at Gavan Duffy Park on Sunday.

The 2025 runners-up trailed by six points with the hour almost up, but with five minutes added on, Latton reeled off a late blitz of 1-4 to win it by 1-18 to 2-14. Youngster TJ Fox got the goal that lit the flame on Latton's comeback, with further points by top scorer Dáire Ó Maoileidigh (two), Tomás Clarke and sub Tomás McCabe sealing a historic win for the O'Rahillys.

Clontibret had raced into a 2-4 to 0-0 lead after just five minutes, helped by goals from Shane Connolly and Stephen Mohan, but ten points from Ó Maoileidigh helped Latton turn it around.
