Cavan Credit Union celebrates growth

Cavan Credit Union has reported continued growth over the 2025/2026 financial year, welcoming more than 900 new members, issuing over €19M in loans and returning more than €30,000 to the local community through its Social & Cultural Fund.

The figures highlight the credit union’s ongoing commitment to supporting its members and the wider community, as it continues to expand its services, while maintaining its focus on local, member-centred financial support.

Marking International Credit Union Day 2026, Chief Executive Officer of Cavan Credit Union, Eimear Tobin, thanked members for their “continued trust, loyalty and support”.

Ms Tobin said the organisation has always been about “much more” than financial services. “We are a community organ isation built on the principle of people helping people,” she said.

The continued support of members has enabled Cavan Credit Union to develop its offering and respond to changing financial needs. Among the developments over the past year has been the addition of mortgages to its range of services, alongside the introduction of CU Perks, which provides exclusive benefits for student members.

The credit union has also continued to invest in the local community through its Social & Cultural Fund, distributing more than €30,000 during the financial year to support community-based initiatives.

Looking ahead, Ms Tobin said Cavan Credit Union will remain focused on delivering a personal and trusted local service, while continuing to support the communities that have sustained the organisation over the years.

“As we look to the future, our focus remains the same: to provide a personal, trusted and local service, while continuing to give back to the communities that have supported us for so many years,” she said.
