Over €30M in BISS and CRISS paid in Cavan - Monaghan

Just under 8,000 local farm families will receive their payments in 'the coming days'.

OVER €30M is on its way to just under 8,000 farm families in Cavan and Monaghan in BISS and CRISS payments.

The payments, which were due to be issued on October 16, were delayed by six days due to the public sector strike on October 14.

But the payments have been issued five days sooner than the second deadline of October 22, set by the Department of Agriculture after the strike disruption.

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon TD, has announced that advance payments under the 2026 Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) and Complementary Redistributive Income Support for Sustainability (CRISS) will begin from yesterday, Thursday, October 22.

In a statement, Minister Heydon said 94 per cent of cleared cases have been paid and payments will be visible in farmers’ bank accounts in the "coming days".

"I appreciate that the delay of six days has been a concern,” he said.

A county-by-county breakdown of payments published by the Department of Agriculture shows 4,252 farmers in Cavan will receive €17,402,502.00.

In Monaghan, €12,771,956.54 will be distributed between 3,573 farm families.

“Payments will be visible in farmers’ bank accounts in the coming days, and the department will continue to process, as a matter of urgency, all remaining cases for payment as they meet scheme criteria,” the Agriculture Minister said.

“I would urge any farmers with outstanding requests for documentation from my department to respond quickly.”
