Eco Féile an ‘enormous success’

The inaugural Eco Féile and Gulliver 300 brought “thousands” to Cavan Town over the a Bank Holiday weekend of family entertainment, music, food, GAA, business, technology, and climate action.

Despite the blustery conditions and Storm Boelo, festival organisers have described the inaugural event as an “enormous success”.

Three days of primarily free activities took place from Friday to Sunday, with three nights of live music featuring performances from Spirit of Smokie on Friday, The Highstool Prophets with support from Groev on Saturday, and, following a 300-year celebration of Gulliver’s Travels, The Tumbling Paddies closed the weekend on Sunday.

A number of indoor activities took place at the multi-storey carpark, which was turned into a family, innovation and activity stage, with digital robotics, Created in Cavan, climate retrofits, U13 cut presentations and the road safety shuttle.

“Although the weather presented challenges, all events went ahead,” a council spokesperson said, however an outdoor concert due to take place on Saturday night had to move indoors due to “high winds”.

“This decision was taken in order to ensure the safety of the public, which was the organisers’ top priority at all time,” the spokesperson said.

“Cavan County Council wishes to thank the thousands of attendees, sponsors, volunteers - including many council staff and councillors, performers, exhibitors and guest speakers who made Eco Féile and Gulliver 300 such an enormous success,” they concluded.
