Average rent in Cavan now at €1,409
Rents in County Cavan have risen again and the increase even supersedes the national average for the first quarter of 2025.
While market rents across the country rose by 3.4 per cent in the first three months of this year, in Cavan, rents were on average 4.1 per cent higher.
The average listed rent in Cavan is now €1,409, which, is an increase of 87 per cent since before the Covid 19 pandemic.
Nationally, the average rent paid stands at €2,503 per month.
This is up from a low of just €765 in 2011 and is 48 per cent higher than before the pandemic.
In the year to March, market rents rose by 5.8 per cent in Dublin and by 8.6 per cent elsewhere.
Rents in the three Ulster counties rose by 4 per cent year-on-year, which, is down from 17.6% a year ago.
On May 1st, there were just over 2,300 homes available to rent nationwide, which, is the third lowest total for May in 20 years.
The three least expensive areas to rent in the country are along the border with renters in County Donegal expected to pay €1,231, slightly more at €1,234 in Leitrim and €1,340 per month in County Monaghan.
