Fifth anniversary of Cavan woman who went missing abroad
Today Sunday (July 13) marks the fifth anniversary of missing Munterconnaught woman Jean Tighe.
Jean (43) was last seen in Parede, a Portuguese holiday resort, on July 13, 2020.
Speaking to the Celt this week, her sister Leona called for a full review of the investigation into her sister’s disappearance, starting from the day she left her hostel and never returned.
“I’m dealing with a lot of uncertainty about my sister’s disappearance in Portugal,” Leona told the Celt.
“One of my biggest fears is that she might be unidentified in a morgue, and I’m trying to get more information.”
The family has, in the past, expressed their disappointment with the Portugese police and the Irish authorities and criticised a lack of progress in the case.
Jean was 38 years old when she went missing and had been living in Portugal for several months.
