Vintage machinery auction in memory of Thomas Shannon

A vintage machinery auction will be held in Killeshandra tomorrow (Saturday), July 26, in memory of Thomas Shannon.

Passionate about all things vintage and machinery, the Killeshandra man passed away in February, 2023.

He was well-known for his skill and business in machinery dismantling, and also among vintage machinery circles.

The auction will be held at his former home place, with two vintage tractors, a selection of ploughs and finger bar mowers, power generators, compressors and other vintage machinery for sale.

O'Reilly, Taylor & Tweedy's Martin O'Reilly will be hosting the auction on behalf of the family.

"It's a selection of vintage machinery," Mr O'Reilly told the Celt.

There will be "rare" items up for auction on the day, a collection of approximately 50-60 lots.

"It'll be a day out or a chance for somebody to pick up some rare, old agricultural machinery items."

Of the two vintage tractors up for sale, Mr O'Reilly hopes they achieve in the range of €2,000 to €3,000 each.

"It'll be a family day out for people or families who are into the vintage collection business," he encouraged.

The vintage machinery auction will take place on Saturday, July 26, at 12:30pm. The auction will take place at his former home place in Killeshandra, H12V2D3.
