Over €11K for cancer support group
A fundraising effort in memory of the late Marcella Hall has officially concluded with the presentation of a cheque for €11,125 to Cootehill Community Cancer Support Group.
The donation follows the successful completion of the ‘32 County Challenge – Ten Years On’ undertaken by amateur cyclist Michael Hall, accompanied by fellow DB Cycling Club member Andrew Agnew. The two-day cycle, covering all 32 counties, was organised to honour Marcella’s memory.
Originally attempted in 2015, the challenge was left unfinished when Marcella passed away during the event. A decade later, Hall felt he had “unfinished business” and set about completing the journey.
He did it over the course of just one weekend - pushing himself to the limit for people who have to battle the most challenging fate. He was supported by a dedicated crew and the wider cycling community.
The cheque was recently handed over to Cootehill Community Cancer Support Group, which will use the funds to provide practical and emotional support to individuals and families affected by cancer.
The organisation expressed its gratitude for the donation, noting that the funds will directly benefit those most in need within the community.
