Little Blue Hero, laid to rest,

You fought so hard and gave your best.

Little Blue Hero, brave and true,

With honour and courage, you saw it through.

Little Blue Hero, your smile so bright,

Now walks a beat in heaven’s light.

Little Blue Hero, we’ll never forget,

The moments we shared from the day we met.

Little Blue Hero, under your care,

Watch over us—your light we’ll share.

A poem for Leon

Written by Garda Paula Behan.

With quiet little footsteps,

He’s been through thick and thin.

To tell the full story of Leon,

I don’t know where to begin.

The nicest boy you’d ever meet

Of that you can believe

His family were not ready when the angels said time to leave.

His path was not yet finished

Why was his life so brief

Our hearts are forever broke and all consumed by grief.

His smile lit up a nation,

His joy was to behold,

His eyes sparkled like diamonds with a story yet to be told.

Leon is sadly missed by his loving parents Alan and Diane, his brothers Fionán, Caolán, and his sister Allie, his grandparents, Eileen and Patsy Briody and Rita McEntee, his uncles and aunts, Barry (Sharon), Shane (Siobhán), Dylan, Tracey (Tomas), Michael (Aisling), Kathleen (Enda), Patrick (Michelle), and Declan (Laura), his cousins, grandaunts and granduncles, relatives, football friends from Ballyhaise Football Club, his classmates from St Patrick’s National School, neighbours and many friends.
