LIVE UPDATES: Trees down and flooding due to Storm Amy

7:07pm - Belturbet-Redhills Road via Gannon’s Cross blocked due to fallen tree, fire service in attendance.

5.37pm - A tree has fallen on the L-7502 Stradone Road. The fire brigade has been notified.

A section of road between Mountain Lodge and Cootehill has collapsed, approximately 200 yards from the Crossroads.

5:30pm - A number of power outages have been reported across the county. In Cavan town, some 6280 customers are experiencing power outages. Restore times range between 5-7:30pm. Some have already been restored.

A fault in Bailieborough is affecting 2511 customers. Estimated restore time is between 6-7pm.

Fourteen customers have been affected in Ballyconnell, while 2823 customers are experiencing power outages in Ballyjamesduff, with estimated restore time between 6-7pm.

A message on ESB's power check site states:

"We're assessing the damage to the electricity network caused by the recent weather event. We'll provide updates on the estimated restoration times as soon as crews have evaluated impacted areas. Thank you for your understanding.

"Fallen Electricity Wires are live and dangerous. Never approach or touch them. Call our emergency service immediately on 1800 372 999 or (+353 21 2382410)."

"An outage only appears when it affects more than 10 properties. If you can't find an outage, report a fault."

5:21pm - A low hanging electrical wire on the Cootehill to Cavan road, Rathkenny, has been reported. Driver caution is advised.

5:06pm - A tree has fallen outside of Breffni Terrace, Cavan. Fire brigade have been informed and are en route.

5:05pm - The fallen tree on the R198 on the Crossdoney–Killeshandra Road has since been cleared.

4:55pm - A tree has fallen on New Street, Virginia (L-7127-0). Fire brigade en route to clear obstruction.

A tree has fallen on the L-6508 at Killygarry GFC. The fire brigade is en route.

A fallen tree is blocking the L-5538 in Keadue, Cavan Town. Fire brigade en route to clear obstruction.

The L-3540 near Lisnalea on the Galbolie Road, Bailieborough is partially closed due to multiple fallen trees.

A tree has fallen on the L-3007 between Lisgrey and Killinkere. The fire brigade has been notified and are en route to the scene.

Fire services have cleared a fallen tree on the R188 near Castletara National School.

4:47pm - Fallen tree between Lisgrey and Virginia.

4:45pm - A tree has fallen between Shercock and Kingscourt.

4:10pm - The obstruction on the Crubany Road has now been cleared.

3:47pm - A fallen tree has been reported on a road in Crubany. The fire service is currently on site working to clear the obstruction.

3:45pm - Tree down on R198 Crossdoney/Killeshandra road.

A number of warnings have been issued by Cavan Counnty Council as the full effects of Storm Amy begin to be felt.

The L-3012 Coppanagh Road is flooded.

Flooding has been reported on the R198. Killeshandra Fire Station is in attendance. Drivers are advised to proceed with caution.

Flooding has been reported between Devin’s Cross and Dernacreive Cross. Caution is advised.

Flooding has been reported in Glangevlin village. Our crew is on site assessing the safety of raising the existing gullies.

The new bridge on the N87 in Killywaum is affected by flooding on both approaches. Inspection teams are en route. Motorists should exercise caution in the area.

Flooding has been reported in the Tullacmongan area, between Aldi and Conaty’s shop on the hill. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution.

Flooding has occurred near the Cornafean football field due to a river overflowing its banks. The R198 is currently passable with care.

Flooding has been reported on the Arva Road in Killeshandra. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution.
