It is with regret that we report the following deaths in counties Cavan and Monaghan in recent days.

Annie Dowd (née Walsh) Lisgannon, Tullyco, Cootehill Co. Cavan, on Monday, October 13, 2025, peacefully at home surrounded by her family. In her 96th year.

Predeceased by her husband Pat.

Forever missed by her heartbroken family, daughters Jackie, Carol, and Ann Marie, sons in law Tom and Peter, daughter in law Janelle, her grandchildren Keri, Erin and Tara, Roísín, Meábh and Jamie, Caroline, Anne, Shannon, Caoimhe, Nessie, Daniel, Aiveen and Conor, her great grandchildren Kayleigh, Kallum, Kai, Eleanor and Éabha, brothers in-law, sisters in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Reposing at her residence (H16 AW73) this evening, Tuesday, October 14 from 3pm to 8pm.

A one-way traffic system will operate to and from her residence with entry on the Cootehill – Laragh road and exit onto the Drung - Cornakill road.

Requiem funeral mass on Wednesday, October 15 at 12 noon in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Drung, Co Cavan, H12 Y409, and can be viewed live on www.churchtv.ie/Drung with burial immediately afterwards in Drung cemetery.

Donations in lieu of flowers, if so desired to Cavan Monaghan Palliative Care Fund c/o Smiths Funeral Directors or donation box in Church.

Elizabeth (Betty) Kane, Turners Hill, Kingscourt, Co. Cavan, peacefully and surrounded by her family at home, Monday, October 13, 2025.

Predeceased by her parents Alice and Terence and her brother Francie.

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her sisters Vera Oakley & Margaret Callaghan and brother Peter, her brother-in-law Michael Callaghan, her nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Kieran Bros. Funeral Home (A82R3W2) on Wednesday, October 15 from 5pm to 8pm.

Removal from her home for funeral mass on Thursday, October 16 at 10am in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kingscourt, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Alina Maria Ksiezyk, Cois Coille, Cullies, Drumalee, Cavan Town, Co. Cavan. Formerly of Sucha Beskidzka Poland, Saturday, October 11, peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the wonderful care of the doctors, nurses and staff of Cavan General Hospital.

Alina will be sadly missed by her long-time partner Tadeusz, sons Jacek and Daniel, sister, brother, all her relatives, neighbours, and many friends.

Krzysztof Wachowicz, Sli Na Coille, Belturbet, Co, Cavan, Thursday, October 9, 2025, peacefully surrounded by his loving family in the wonderful care of the doctors, nurses and staff of Cavan General Hospital.

Krzysztof will be sadly missed by his wife Monika, son Oliver, father, sisters, all his relatives, neighbours, and many friends.

Passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home on Sunday, October 12, 2025.

Predeceased by his parents Patsy and Olive.

John was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his wife Marie (née Shevlin), sisters Irene Gonnelly and Debbie O’Neill, uncles Peter, Tony and Gene, auntie Maura, brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family relatives, and all his wonderful neighbours and friends.

Philomena Malone (nee Hogan), Drumgowna, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan and formerly of Ballinacarrigy, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath who left this world peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in the care of Our Lady of Lourdes, Drogheda.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, Bosco, parents Paddy and Cissie Hogan, nephews John and Gerald Martyn and niece Michelle Moore and her rainbow grandchildren. Philomena is survived by her five heartbroken children, Saoirse (Rob), Dara (Liam), Paddy (Róisín), Dominic (Aoibhinn) and Goretti (Philip), her adoring grandchildren Abigail, Tristan, Ruairí, Naoíse, Patrick and Jude, her sisters Agnes, Mary, Pat, Kathleen, Bernie and Bridgie, and brother Ollie, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Removal on Thursday morning on foot from Monaghan Street (approx. 10:40am) to St. Joseph’s Church, Carrickmacross (A81 K253) arriving for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Brad McCaffrey, McCurtain Street, Clones, Monaghan. Suddenly and unexpectedly.

Loving son of Angela and step son of Noel, brother to Stefan, Sarah (Daniel), Shéana (Josh) and Kyle, nephew Cuan, devoted grandson to Nanny Geraldine Maguire and Nanny Patricia McCaffrey. Pre-deceased by his Grandfathers Brian Maguire and Eugene McCaffrey.

Reposing at his home from 12 noon today, Tuesday October 14 until Wednesday at 9pm. House strictly private on Thursday morning.

Removal on Thursday morning at 10@:15am to arrive at The Sacred Heart Church, Clones for 11am funeral mass. Burial afterwards in Mount Saint Olivier Cemetery.
